Here are pictures of my first wood working project a rolltop desk

  

When I built this Rolltop Desk ten years ago, all I had was a router,  a table saw and little cash.
So,  I did a little improvising with materials the desk was made from spruce.
There were no plans for this desk I drew some rough dimensions on a piece of paper and started to build it.

the small drawers were made from 1/4" pine tongue & groove paneling I
cut off 1/2" from the tongue side and nailed it in the bottom of the case to
be used as drawer guides.
